The choice for continuing education among mental health practitioners
Enjoyable, Practical, and Affordable
ACCREDITATION: Continuing Psychology Education Inc. (CPE Inc.) is approved to provide continuing education by the following: Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners (Provider number 3329); Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors (Provider number 386); Texas State Board of Examiners of Marriage and Family Therapists (Provider number 110); these courses meet the qualifications of continuing education for psychologists, LSSPs, LPAs, and provisionally licensed psychologists as required by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists; these courses meet the qualifications of continuing education for LCDCs as required by the LCDC Program.
An LBSW, LMSW, LMSW-AP, and LCSW shall accrue 30 clock-hours of continuing education biennially as defined in Section 781.508 of the Texas Code of Regulations; all 30 hours may be earned through self-study. A minimum of 6 clock-hours in Ethics is required during the biennial renewal period and may be completed in self-study.
An LPC shall accrue 24 clock-hours of continuing education each 24 month period as defined in Section 681.141 of the Texas Code of Regulations; all 24 hours may be earned though self-study. At least 4 hours of continuing education directly related to counselor ethics issues is required each renewal period and may be completed in self-study.
An LMFT shall accrue 30 clock-hours of continuing education each renewal period as defined in Section 801.263 of the Texas Code of Regulations; 12 hours may be earned through self-study. 6 hours of ethics is required each renewal period and may be completed in self-study.
A psychologist, LSSP, LPA, and provisionally licensed psychologist shall accrue 20 hours of continuing education annually as defined in Section 461.11 of the Texas Code of Regulations; all 20 hours may be earned through self-study. 3 hours must be in ethics, the Board’s Rules of Conduct, or professional responsibility and ethics may be completed in self-study.
An LCDC who holds a master’s or other advanced degree must complete at least 24 hours of continuing education during each two-year licensure period, and an LCDC who does not hold a master’s or other advanced degree must complete at least 40 hours as defined in Section 140.416 of the Texas Code of Regulations; at least 3 hours of ethics is required. All hours may be completed in self-study.
